National Institute for Health Sciences Forms Partnership with

EduMed Corporation For Online Education Programs

Minneapolis, MN, February 28, 2005 – The National Institute for Health Sciences (NIHS) of Minneapolis, MN today announced a collaborative education agreement with the EduMed Corporation, a medical publishing company based in Minneapolis, MN.

The agreement allows NIHS to use EduMed’s online learning management system (LMS) to market NIHS’s personal trainer courseware nationwide over the Internet.  Under the agreement, EduMed will convert NIHS programs for online use and host the programs online for NIHS.  NIHS will begin marketing online continuing education programs for personal trainers in March of this year.  The online courses will compliment NIHS’s proctored programs for Advanced Specialist and Senior Fitness Certificate programs for personal trainers. The online delivery with EduMed will provide a national reach for NIHS accredited continuing education programs.

The initial focus of the online programs will be on the seniors, and will start with the topic of Senior Strength.  All 10 Senior Strength courses are recognized by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the American Kinesiotherapy Association, and the American Bodyworks and Massage Professionals (ABMP).  There are approximately 1 million personal trainers in the United States requiring annual continuing education to maintain licensure.
